This assessment was developed for the NextGen Risk Competition, where participants were given a real‑world scenario based on Comark Holdings’ insolvency filing during the COVID‑19 pandemic.
Bootlegger, Cleo, and Ricki’s entered creditor protection due to a ransomware attack, the lingering impact of COVID-19, supply‑chain disruption, and external competition.
Our team approached the case by analyzing Comark’s risk landscape, identifying the most critical exposures, and designing an insurance‑driven strategy that could have strengthened resilience before the crisis occurred.
Failure Mode and Effect Analysis
A Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) ranks cyber risk as the highest‑priority threat, with the largest Risk Priority Number (RPN) among all assessed exposures.

The report identifies primary exposures, recommends insurance coverage options, discusses the benefits of the insurance coverage, and a recommends an incident report plan.
